USB3 not recognizing cooled 178MC

Hello,

I purchased a cooled ASI 178MC last March. Within the last month, I notice that the camera is not recognized when I plug it into the USB3 port of my HP running Windows 10. Instead, I hear the sound of a USB device being plugged in and unplugged over and over.

Below are the things I have tried along with my conclusions:

* re-loaded the USB3 software from the ZWO site and the latest copy of SharpCap ; the result is that the camera is still not recognized by USB3. The camera is recognized by USB2 and functions OK except with greatly reduced rate of frame capture.

* camera is usable with USB2 port which means the cable is probably OK

* tried another USB3 device (external hard drive) in the USB3 port and it worked fine; this tells me the port itself is fine

* ran a Windows diagnostic on the USB ports and it said I have all of the drivers updated; device manager does not show any USB port (including USB3) is unresponsive.

I hope someone can help me solve this problem because I am out of ideas of things to try to get this very expensive piece of equipment to operate as it is supposed to.

Hi Mark

please check the USB host controller chip in device manager at first

you may need to update your host controller driver, you can have a look here

also please try on another PC with USB3.0 port to check if this is a USB3.0 cable problem

The camera does work on another machine running Windows 10 with a different usb 3 driver (Renesas usb3 extensible host controller 0.96).

And it has worked before on my dedicated pc running Windows 10 that has one usb3 port. The driver for this usb3 port is AMD usb 3.0 extensible host controller 1.0

I cannot think of any changes that have occurred since it worked.

Also, I have an external drive that works perfectly when plugged into the usb3 port for my dedicated ap machine. so, I have eliminated I think issues due to the cable.

I am still perplexed and am now trying to download other usb3 drivers (so far without success). I am pretty lost here.

you can uninstall the AMD driver and try update the driver automatically

then win10 will install the driver from microsoft which may works

I already tried that and it did not work.........

I think the USB3.0 host controller maybe in the black list
