174mm wont connect as USB3

I cant get my 174mm to register as a USB3 device. My Windows 8.1 laptop has all usb3 ports.

Intel USB3 eXtensible Host Controller

I have the latest version of Fire Capture 2.5 beta 7 and SharpCap 2.9

Using supplied USB3 cable

Max fps I'm getting is 14fps

Both programs are reading as a USB2 device in all ports

Any ideas?

I don't know if this helps or not but when my 174mm is only getting 14fps , I restart my Windows 10 computer and it goes back to the normal 128fps.

please try on a different machine at first to avoid any cable problem

then you can try upgrade the driver of your host controller

I tried a restart - nothing

I dont have another USB3 machine

The host controller driver you linked is very old, I have a newer one and says its up to date

Any other ideas?

do you have another cable?

switch and try different cable or PC is the fastest way to find the problem

I ordered another cable, will be here tomorrow to try that. I dont have access to another USB3 computer.

I also noticed the USB3 port on the back of the camera is not straight to the camera. It is slanted at an angle and when i bump the cord a certain way, I hear the windows 'disconnect sound'

Could it be the port on the camera is bad or faulty?

Update...

I tried a different computer with the same cable... and it will not connect as a USB3 device. Exact same behavior as the original computer.

In Windows 'Devices and Printers' when i click on the 174mm-cool a Status reads: ''Device will run faster when connected to USB 3.0" - same on both computers

Both computers have Windows 8.1

New USB3 cable to arrive tomorrow so hopefully that is it.

Any other suggestions appreciated

OK, The socket is not fixed very tight

Device manager says "Device will run faster when connected to USB3"

So what's next?

I also tried a Powered USB3 hub and it's still connected as USB2

Ok, I bought a 1600MM-Cool and it connects fine with USB3!

Something must be wrong with the 174mm USB port in the camera. Sam has offered to fix it.
