No image on screen

Can anyone help. I have a ZWO 224 MC and although successful in imaging planets I cannot get an image of anything deep sky. I understand the camera has a small chip however Inget everything lined up and see any start without a problem on my computer but with deep sky it's a different story. Tried to image the Orion nebulae and it appeared centred in my scope and although the image is bigger than a plane or star I still cannot see in Firecapture. I understand it will be significantly dimmer than a star or planet and have turned up the gain and exposure to 100% in the hope od seeing something but nothing. The only issue I remember from last nights attempt is I had a IR filter on my ZWO camera, would this hinder. I apologise for the ignorance to all this but I am very new to this.

How did you center it ?

First eypiece then switch to camera ?

If you have succeeded with planets I guess you realize they have different focus.

Don't know what do you mean by exposure to 100% in Firecapture.

My Capture have different set of exposure values.

Anyway with even with brightest of DS objects you need exposure range of seconds.

What scope are you using and do you have a tracking mount ?

Just realized that if you are using video format (avi or ser) then you are limited to 1s or less exposure.

Change to image format (like tiff) and you can change exposure range to second range.

No, this is not true. I just captured 8 hours of 15 sec exposures in AVI format with my ASI224 during the Perseid peak. I used sharpcap. I believe it's default in "auto" is to switch to fits for long exposures but if you deselect auto YOU get to choose
