ASI 224mc for guiding

Hi I use my ASI224mc for planetary without problem. Last night I tried to use it with SKY X Pro and my iMac for auto guiding.

Sky X pro has no problem connecting and controlling it. However the images are blank. No matter how long an exposure I am not getting any stars visible.

I also tried with PHD2 and had the same result.

Are there any specific settings needed for auto guiding? I tried raw 8 and raw 16 as well as YUV. I adjusted the gain several times without success.

What scope are you using for guiding ?

Have you tried in daylight ?

Focus might be off.

Thanks, I was using the Sbig e-finder....it is a 36 mm 100.8 focal length lens which usually gives a very wide field view. I had the focus at infinity and in a lighted room it seemed ok. Not sure, I will try in daylight at a far object and check the focus again.

Thanks for the suggestion...I figured out the problem. With the 1.25 inch nose-piece and the e-finder it does not come to focus.

If I remove the nosepiece and use the screw base of the all sky lens removed it now can attach to the finder and reach focus.

Just hoping someone can answer this....what is better for guiding the YUV or raw 16 setting....also is it better to use the IR cut filter or not for guiding.

for guiding, raw8 should be enough

and you don't need IR-CUT filter
