ASI 178MM and Parallels

Hi,

I'm a happy MAC user and bought recently the ASI 178MM.

The camera works great with Mac native apps like PHD2, oACapture (30 frames/sec), TheSky X and (probably) with INDI.

Now I noticed that PHD2 offers an easy polar alignment routine and it can be done with my new ASI178MM. ;)

Unfortunately PHD2 on Mac doesn't support my Gemini2 or INDI to control my telescope, so I bought Parallels 12 and installed Win7. After installing the ZWO drivers and plug in the camera all seems good.

But it isn't as I cannot get the ASI178MM work with any capture app.

I'll get 0.1 - 1 frame in SharpCap 2.9 but only when I'm choosing the DirectShow option in the cameras menu and I'm seeing just a black screen.

In PHD2 the camera always will timeout after 15 sec.

Firecapture doesn't work either.

Running ASCOM Diagnostics I'll get this, when I connect to the camera:

Windows 7 (incl. all updates)

Latest camera driver directly from ZWO site

Please help, as I want to polar align my G11 with PHD2.

did you try to adjust "Turbe USB" to lowest 40%?

did you try exposure 1s?

This is the default preset, I can't go below 40%.

Yes. PHD2 won't work anyway. I tried the native and also the Ascom driver.

After connecting the ASI178MM I want to set up a dark library. I set the time from 1 sec to 10 sec.

Unfortunately after 16 sec PHD2 told me that the camera wasn't able to capture the first 1 sec dark.

However I got Sharpcapture to run.

With the default camera (the nearest entry of the top) I'll get 20 FPS when I set the capture area to 640x480. The capture area is by default set to 3096x2080 and with that setting I'll get 0 FPS.

My goal is to get PHD2 to work, just because the Polar Alignment routine.

Are there any plans to release some INDI drivers?

I think that's parallels' performance problem if the camera can run at 640*480 but cannot run at full resolution

under PHD you can choose the WDM driver and select the small resolution such like 640*480

there is INDI driver under linux
