North America in Ha+ASI174MM Cooled+60/280 Zwo Refractor

Hi all,

this time I tried to integrate for almost 6 hours: 5 h 45 min (345 x 60 seconds, no guide) + 30 Dark + 30 Flat +30 Darf(Flat) + 30 Bias.

But this time with the cooled version of the ASI174MM at temperature of -28,5°C.

With the 60/280mm ZWO refractor on Vixen-NEXSXD.

Always from the polluted urbans sky of Turin (Italy) and with 7nm H-alpha Baader filter.

Pask , I'm impressed with the detail, I have a new asi 174MM cooled for my 8 in. Newtonian astrograph and had an ok 1st light. Still figuring out what it does on what and working with the settings and avi's of the Moon and M42. I couldn't get the cooler option to work with maximDL , I just stayed with Sharpcap and ran a few avi's {to my surprise it does DS imaging} . Would you know if I need to take the calibrations before and place in a folder or take them each target? I'm not familiar with the cmos on DS and dso imaging , I've also got a Levenhuk T510NG color that is supposed to be able to do bright dso's but, I couldn't figure it out and help is pretty non-existant. A lot from the forum told me it couldn't do DSO imaging, I left it at that. All my DSO imaging has been done with either a Meade Pictor mono216xt or a Meade Dsi lll color or my Spc900nc webcam and all ccd cameras. I need a lil' help getting going. SB

Hi SB,

I apologize for answering so late.

So, I suggest if you have the ASI174MM cooled to keep use something like Sharpcap or Firecapture. If you want you can try also, for 30 day is free, Sequence Generator Pro.

About the calibrations frames it dipends if you use always the same temperature and the same exposition you can use always the same dark frame. if you change temp or exp you have to take a new sequence of dark frame in order to generate the Master-dark. For the flat is different, because you have to take everytime a sequence of flat in order to create the Master-flat.

Remember the flag for 16bit and never take an *.avi but a sequence of *.Fit. That's because the avi is in 8bit the fit format is also in 16bit. When the target is a DSO there is a difference between 8bit and 16bit.

The ASI174MM-cooled, in my opinion, is a very good camera for the solar system and a good camera for DSO. See, below and let me know if I can help you
