I am familiar with how to create a bias frame with a dslr. But apparently I am missing something when it comes to my uncooled ASI 224mc. I started trying some of the brighter DSO objects last night, firstly M27. I captured 75 fits lights in Sharpcap before the clouds rolled in. Settings were 20 second exposure, gain was 209 and was going for 200 frames. Clouds cut that short. The settings were gathered from info on this forum.
I then covered my scope and told Sharpcap to create 11 darks, which it created one which I assume is a culmination of the 11 into one.
Then the guesswork of creating the bias. Left scope covered, left gain at 209, lowered my light exposure down to the fastest that Sharpcap would allow. Told it to output a fits file, but it output a ser file instead. Not sure what happened there or if I am even proceeding correctly in attempting to create the bias (offset). Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
The image did come out but not as good as it should have, I assume because of the lack of bias. I process in pixinsight btw.
Thanks,
Randy
