NGC 253 3 hrs Luminance with 174mm

Luminance channel of NGC 253 taken on Oct 29, 2016 from Heathcote Victoria with a 12.5" f/5 telescope and a Zwo ASI 174mm cooled camera. 60 x 3 minute exposures giving a total exposure of 180 minutes (3 hours). 30 equivalent Darks and Flats. Captured with MaximDL and processed with Deep Sky Stacker and Photoshop CS3.

Seetings for camera was 200 gain and 38 offset in MaximDL.

really great image. Well done.

I'm still trying to use the 174mm Coold for the deepsky. Until now I'm very happy for the results but very hopeful for the future.

Usualli I put the offset (brightness in firecapture) at 1. As the default. How do you decided to put it at 38. Analysing the histogram and avoiding to have negative numbers of intesity pixels?

John ,that's awesome only if I can get my stars to look like thatCapture_0016.pngI've got maximDLv5 John and I'm having trouble getting it to recognize that it's a cool version, it works on Direct show , still camera isn't in the list, I've had a Meade Pictor and DSI lll for years , this has me baffled , I'm using Sharpcap until I can get the issue resolved . Can you offer any help ? I'm trying what I can to get my kit fine tuned, all the issues I've had with capture software and testing , getting alignment good enough to guide . This was 8s Lum "Lucky imaging" no guide , mount tracking was loose. I still have things to work on . I might be disabled but, getting something on the laptop is worth all the pain I go thru.
