I really like the QE on this cam, I want to get this for Bday & xmas present since my DSI lll color is malfunctioning. I need to know if this cam is a good match for my Newtonian/Lxd55 mount? Can I use this cam with my Orion 5 position fw , also can I use my 5x powermate and Paracorr t2 also out of the box or does it require extra stuff to make it work ?

Would you know the fov and if I can attach it to a 5x powermate with a TV1250 t-ring or with the tube connected? I also use the Paracorr t2 for wide field imaging or if it has a narrow fov I would use it all the time that this camera is being used . I only ask because I just don't want to get the wrong camera.

It has a T2 thread and 1,25" nosepiece in the set. So you can use either a T-thread or the nosepiece to connect to the Powermate.

According to CCDCalc (http://www.newastro.com/book_new/camera_app.html), with the 8" f4, you'll get a plate scale of 1.5 arcsec/pixel and a FOV 48 x 30 arcmin.

I just can't comprehend arc at this stage of my adventure, let me ask this way . Is it feasible to capture med. to lg . galaxies like m33 , m31 without needed to mosaic ? I've read that the asi174mm doesn't come with a 12v DC cord for the cooler fan, is that right ? I really wish I new everything so deciding on a camera wouldn't be such a challenge . What is the difference between this camera and the asi1600mm?

If you select the image of M33 in CCDCalc it shows the ASI 174 just covers the galaxy.

The ASI 1600 covers close to double the area of the ASI174....

The smaller pixel size may be good, but the price is much more!

It looks like you need to supply your own power cable for the cooled cameras.
