Hi all,
I have not yet tried my new ASI1600MMC at other than some DSOs (impressed!), but I guess it will also be quite good at sun & moon. As for moon, TheSkyX says a 65% moon will fit nicely with my C11HD+reducer. But of course, the frame rate could be better, even when using ROI.
Looks like the the ASI178MM will be a perfect match for sun & moon other stuff I have, like a small f=300mm Ha solar scope, a f=350 Star71 APO, and with the C11 in Hyperstar setup. (or is f/2 simply too bright for this?)
But first of all I'd like to upgrade my DMK21AU618 planet cam. Since I already have filters I'm thinking of the ASI290MM, but I have not rejected ASI224MC as a strong contender.
I have the Baader Fluorite converter (2x to 8x), and these chips will both be great for the C11. (although I feel that the 290 chip has an annoyingly non-square aspect ratio!)
Will do more planet imaging than sun and moon together.
Will most likely get one (290, 178..) at the time. (which one will first get a successor ..?)
And probably just have one of them cooled, for planetary nebulae etc.
I would especially like to hear from those of you having had several ASI's:
What would you choose in my situation?
Thanks :)
