IR capable without window?

Hello, before I risk ruining the sensor of my little red friend, I hope some friendly person on the forum can help me out with knowledge and/or example pictures.

I have got the ASI120MC USB2 and would like to try IR nebula shots with my Celestron EdgeHD 800.

Is the IR sensibility of the ASI120MC (not MM) significantly increased by removing the protective window or replacing it with a clear glass window? Does the D21 window fit?

Has anybody of you already done comparison shots with and without the protective window and could provide them to me?

It will be somewhat IR sensitive but not as much as ASI224 or mono variants of the sensors. And yes - you have to remove the protective glass to use the IR passing filters.
