ASI1600MC-cooled and OaCapture on Mac ???

Hi there, I'm very new to today's astrophotography but am lucky owner of ASI1600MC-cool and Celestron 1400HD Pro. I only have MacBook Pro and so have downloaded OaCapture. Got first good image of the Moon 2 weeks ago but weather in UK has been atrocious ever since.

My question : will I be able to use OaCapture to capture DSO images e.g. M51. Has anyone done this, if so what exposure times and FPS, gamma, brightness etc. At the moment I haven't a clue and would guess that the preview screen wouldn't show much for DSOs ?

The issue with oaCapture is that exposures longer than say 2 seconds become a problem. James is aware and is addressing it for later versions. It is something to do with processing simultaneous traffic but I'm no expert and I apologise to James for any mis-representation. I have tried longer exposures with my ASI174MM for my spectroscopy work and it is a real struggle. I'm afraid I have to resort to APT run on my daughter's PC which can take exposures as long as you like.
