I own a 10" F/10 LX200GPS. Last week I tried getting my first light on Venus but got a black screen instead. So I thought something might be wrong with my camera (ASI224MC) so I set-up my scope in the daytime and focused on the street light across the street. It worked thank goodness. Again I tried that night still black screen. I tried again last night on the Moon and still a black screen. I tried using my right angle and straight thru and using my motor focus all the way in and all the way out. Someone suggested focusing by looking at the object with the eyepiece out and looking directly at the mirror. Still a no go. I know I'm doing something wrong but I have no idea.
The screen is mostly black except for the pixels.
you didnot find the target, the sensor chip is very small and very hard to find the target on it even if you see it in eyepiece
you can try defocus and exposure longer such like 100ms
then you may see the target and adjust it to center
So even the Moon will be very small? I haven't tried to do any exposure yet since I can't see the Moon. Will I see anything "live" once I can find the almost full moon like in my street light pic?? I didn't do any exposure or recording to see it in the daytime. Also I forgot to mention in my first post. I even tried using my 2.5x Barlow and my 2x Telenegative.
yes, the camera run at preview when you start it
you'd better find moon with eyepice and then exchange it with the camera
no barlow needed
