I currently own the ZWO ASI1600MM-Cooled I am looking to buy the ZWO OAG and guide camera. My current guiding setup does not allow me to remotely control it and is in need of an upgrade.
I know that I would be better with a mono camera for guiding but I was looking to add a colour camera to my kit for easy planetary imaging (and for live view to show the kids) so buying a colour camera that could also be used for guiding would be the better option for me.
From the options that ZWO have for a colour camera that can guide but also offer good FPS for imaging planets what would be your recommendation. I have been looking at the ASI185MC as possibly being the better option. I would ideally like to spend no more than $400 on the guide camera itself. I am trying to find the best balance between guiding and planetary imaging.
I am trying to find the best balance between chip size, pixel size, FPS etc. I narrowed my options down to the 224, 185, 290 and 178. Out of these the 185 has the biggest pixel and chip size and its FPS is the 2nd highest of these 4.
I would also like advice on the IR/AR filters on the protect windows given what I need to camera to do.
In terms of the kit I am using, it varies from a 10" SCT down to a 200mm canon lenses and a couple of scopes in between.
