ASI 1600 MC and Flataid in APT 3.30

Hello, i tried to get Flatfielimages with the ASI 1600 in APT 3.30 .

But the Flats were not typical as i know . ASU was 20000 - 24000 and in front of the schmidt- plate was a flatfieldbox with with light . What are the typical values of ADU to use in APT Flataid for the ASI 1600 MC ( FWC 20 Ke )

Can you please share your experience using APT's Flat Field Aid to generate the correct exposures to use for flats? I also have a 1600 color camera and I plan to use the Flat Aid to help with creating my flats. I've read on other forums (Cloudy Nights) that I should use ADU values that are about half the camera's full well of 20,000 ADU. So I am planning to use target values of 9000 - 13000 for ADU in Flat Aid to see what exposures Flat Aid recommends.

It would be helpful if you could share your experience and did you found Flat Aid useful? What target ADU values did you use and which ones produced the best results? Thanks.

Hello , my mistake was that i integrated the flataid files instead the followed real flatframes generated with APT . First APT in Flataid generates Flataidframes from t min to t Max . Than APT calculates the time that correspondent with in my situation with ADU 24500 . Than you Must answer yes to overwrite the flataid Plan. Than APT takes 10, or more flat frames with the time above named Flats.

Please bevor say yes, delete the flataid frames locate in the same dir . Than debayer the flatframes and after that integrate f.e. with Pixinsight . Than you can see of the frame has his Main values in the middle of the histogramm, f.e. With Histogramm Transformation in PI .

I tested with ADU 7500, 15000, 20000, 25000 and 30000.

Thanks for your reply. Which ADU value gave you the best results for your flats? I am testing between 9000 - 13,000 ADU, which is half of the ASI1600 color camera's full well of 20,000 ADU. But I don't know if my range is correct, since you are testing a much larger range of 7500 - 30,000. Thanks.

Hello, you should test this with your own images,

i think between 12000 and 20000 should be o.k.

Thanks for your reply. I have so far tested flats with mean ADU of between 13K - 15K with good results. I will next try flats with mean ADU up to 20K just to see if the results work better for my images.

I have found that using Flats with a mean ADU of 15K - 20K works best for my purposes with my ASI1600MC-Cool.
