ASI 1600MM Cool - Unable to connect my new camera

Hello all,

I just bought a ASI 1600MM Cool (my first CCD camera) with the integrated 8-position filter-wheel and downloaded all the required drivers from the ZWO site, including the ASCOM platform v 6.2.

I am trying to connect it with Prism, also tried with Sequence Generator Pro, Astro Photography Tools. Nothing works, same for the EFW filter wheel. However, both devices show up under devices connected on my computer. See the following screen captures. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated, I am a bit discouraged for this first attempt outside of my comfortable DSLR rig.

can you try SharpCap and I think the ASCOM platform is the problem

you can reinstall ASCOM platform

Thanks for the suggestion.

I reinstalled the ASCOM platform and tried to connect with SharpCap

The camera connected but I have a problem with the filter wheel. It looks like the software is trying to move the wheel but is not able to. See attached screen captures.

you need to recalibrate the filter wheel with a tool, launch the tool, click "open" and "initialize":

if you have installed "ZWO EFW ASCOM Setup V1.0.0.12", please select "ZWO FilterWheel(1)" in SharpCap menu->File->SharpCap Settings->Hardware, open "properties" dialog, click "ReCalibrate"

I followed your instructions and here is the result when I click on Open:

It says it did not open but I clicked on Onitialize nevertheless and here is the message:

Then I opened SharpCap and I get this:

When I installed the filter initially, I opened the unit and I turned the filter wheel manually while manoeuvring with the little screws that hold the filters in place. Is this something I should not have done?

You can see that after you clicked "initlize" the status is "moving", did the wheel rotate at this moment? if not, maybe the screw is too tight, you can try screwing it looser.

PROBLEM RESOLVED!

Yes, I loosened the screw at the center of the filter wheel by about 1/8 of a turn and now it works perfectly.

Also, I resolved the problem with Prism. I downloaded a different driver ASICamera2.dll from the Prism site and it now connects.
