weird bands artifacts ... say what is this stuff ??

New ASI1600 M cooled.... gain was 200 offset 10

grabbed 19 images and darks... NO flats yet ..... combined them using Images Plus 6.5

and sort of a stretch shows crazy weird horizontal banding....

what is causing all this ????

I did a bunch of tinkering with the IP inputs and came up with a MUCH better final image !!!

so it looks like I did not screw up too badly .... YAY !!!! <G>

Hello, sorry for late reply. We think using gain 200, you should turn offset to 30-50. will solve this problem.

we offer 3 default setting for everyone.

Highest Dynamic Range: offset=10 , gain=0, recommand for Deepsky imaging.

utinity gain: offset=21, gain=139

Lowest read noise: offset=50, gain=300

next time, please try Highest Dynamic Range settings to take M106, I will be awesome!

I had a very similar problem. I discovered that while taking my Luminance flats I had NOT waited till the cooling temperature had settled. I started taking images when SGP allowed me to, which was 3 deg C higher than what I had set for my cooling temp (-20C). Because of this the power level being supplied to the TEC was higher than is should have been and the supplied power changed once the correct temp was achieved. It appears this was what created the horizontal banding similar to what you are seeing. Allowing the temperature / power to settle may very well help!
