224MC-Cool Actual/Effective Sensor Size?

I hope this isn't a silly question but what is the actual working or effective pixel count of an ASI224MC-Cool?

The ZWO site gives 1.2Mega Pixels 1304X976. Images saved in SharpCap as .png are 1304 x 976. However other brands using an IMX224 give specs such as "Effective Pixels 1280*960" or "recording pixels 1280 x 976". The Sony spec "1305 (H) × 977 (V) approx. 1.27M pixels" and "Optical blacks Horizontal Front: 4 pixels, rear: 0 pixels & Vertical Front: 16 pixels, rear: 0 pixels which may imply working image pixel size of less than 1305x977.

If the working imaging pixel count is lower than the spec, is the image up-scaled in the camera or by the software?

May I say too that I am enjoying this camera. :)

1304X976 is effective pixels

if working image pixels count is lower than this

it mean other cameras didnot use the full resolution

Thanks for the info. I might wonder why different brands use different numbers, but I won't lose sleep worrying about it. ;)

we always try to use up the effective pixels

because we think our customer must want to use the max resolution

but other area such like security

they need stand resolution such like 720p
