USB problems whit ASI 1600MC, 120MC and EFW

I conect the ASI 1600MC-Cool and ASI 120MC and EWF to:

PC DELL XPS

USB 3.0 with eXtensible Intel USB 3.0 - 1.0 driver controler

Windows 10

Hub USB ORINOCO 3.0

ZWO drivers

The system recognizes cameras and EFW correctly

I connect the hub to USB 2.0 in the same PC and

The system recognizes cameras and EFW correctly

I connect the cameras and EFW direct to USB 2.0and 3.0 in the same PC and

The system recognizes cameras and EFW correctly

Then i connect the same equipment to

laptop DELL XPS

USB 3.0 with renesas electronic USB 3.0 controler

Windows 7 - 64

Hub USB ORINOCO 3.0

ZWO drivers

Problems found:

a) ASI 120MC do not recognize in USB 3.0 Direct to the laptop (Only recognize on USB 2.0)

EFW do not recognize in USB 3.0 Direct to the laptop (Only recognize on USB 2.0)

b) ASI 120MC do not recognize in ORINOCO HUB USB 3.0 (HUB connected to USB 3.0 laptop)

EFW do not recognize in ORINOCO HUB USB 3.0 (HUB connected to USB 3.0 laptop)

c) ASI 1600MC-Cool is correctly recognize by USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 and USB ORINOCO HUB 3.0

but ASI 120MC and EFW do not recognize in USB 2.0 camera HUB (1600MC-cool)

Connecting ASI 1600MC-Cool to USB 3.0 direct to laptop and in HUB ORINOCO

d) When I connect the camare 1600-MC-cool to USB 2.0 direct to laptop the 1600MC camera HUB

recognize ASI 120MC and EFW

e) When I connect the ORINOCO HUB to USB 2.0 direct to laptop the 1600MC camera HUB

recognize ASI 120MC and EFW.

f) When I connect the ORINOCO HUB to USB 2.0 direct to laptop ant the 1600MC, 120MC and EFW

on HUB, Windows recognize all correctly

you may can upgrade the driver of renesas electronic USB 3.0 controler

I made tests with the last renesas electronic USB 3.0 controler

Problems found:

maybe your laptop have problem with it's USB3.0 port

you can check if mouse or keyboard works on this port?

The USB it´s OK.

Mouse, keyboard, webcam, ... , and other equipment work properly in it.

Those are USB2 Devices. Have you tested this Laptop USB3 Port with actual USB3 Devices??

Have you tested with other USB3 Cables?? Between Camera and Hub or between Hub and Laptop??

Is this the SAME Laptop, just running under Win7 instead of Win10?? Or 2 different Dell XPS Laptops??

It might also be the "Hub USB ORINOCO 3.0" which is at issue. Do you have another USB3 Hub to test?? Could this ORINOCO Hub require more Power than the Laptop provides via the USB3 Port?? Most USB3 Hubs need to be Externally Powered, as the average Laptop USB3 Port doesn't provide the Max Power of USB3 Spec.

These could all be Issues you need to test.

You will also likely need to adjust the "Turbo" Rate of the USB3 Data on the Camera. Especially the ASI1600 can "Overdrive" the Data Rate which most Laptop USB3 Ports can reliably Receive.
