I recently obtained a ASI290MC mainly for planetary imaging. Generally, I am excited with its performance, but at the same time, I have troubles, which could mean the ASI290MC is not working with USB3.
The situations are below:
(1) On a 6-year-old laptop PC running Windows 7 Pro (32bit), the ASI290MC inserted to USB2 ports works good with FireCapture. But it seems that it does not work at all when inserted to USB3 port, which works well for other use such as USB memory sticks. It looks like the ASI290MC is not recognized by the PC from the beginning. I believe that I am using the latest drivers and softwares around the ASI290MC.
(2) On a windows tablet (T102HA-8350G) running Windows 10 (Creators Update), which has a USB3 port, the ASI290MC does not work well. It looks like the ASI290MC is not recognized by the PC from the beginning.
(3) On a Mac Book Pro (Late 2013, El Capitan), the ASI290MC is recognized, i.e., it appears aspan "ASI290MC" on the USB 3.0 bus, but it gets images only rare moments. I have tried OaCapture and AstroLive, but the result is the same: the previews sometimes appears but continues only for a few seconds.
For the time being, I am rather satisfied with using it with USB2 on the old Windows laptop.
Still, it will be much better to use it with newer PCs.
