I've just been testing an ASI1600 cooled camera. All seems to work well (running Maxim and ASCOM), except that I'm getting a large number of "hot" pixels that randomly pop up in each exposure. They do not repeat from one exposure to the next. I've tried the usual cable changes, port changes, computer changes, acquisition software changes, but they persist. They have a value of several hundred ADU above the surrounding pixels. They don't seem to depend upon temperature, but behave more like spikes in the read noise. They are most often in pairs, so the hot pixel filter in Maxim doesn't work well.
I would very much like to see a dark frame like the very smooth example on the ZWO website, but I'm not getting that. I've attached a small area to show what I see, it was done with the same settings as the ZWO sample dark frame, except at -15C instead of -25C. Putting the camera in a refrigerator to get down close to -25C didn't make much (if any) difference. Any ideas?
