ASI1600MM-C Fan

Hi there,

I recently purchased an asi1600mm-c, and the fan does not operate when connected to my laptop. However, it works fine when connected to my desktop.

The drivers in both computers are identical. The two differences are the laptop is USB V2.0 only and windows 10 and the desktop has USB 3.0 and is windows 7.

Is it possible the drivers are having an issue with Windows 10? Or am I having issues because the laptop is USB 2.0?

make sure you have external power to the camera? There typically isn't enough power on USB to power up the fan. might be your cpu has some extra powered USB port?

I do have the external power source plugged in. I did try several power outlets when using the laptop, so I'm certain it's not part of the problem.

I also unplugged the external power source when connected to the desktop, the fan turned off as expected.

Just to clarify, by "enabling the cooler", do you mean within the driver?

I am using SGP and the cooler is enabled "On" within the TEC tool. It then goes through "powering on", then "cooling" on the TEC tool. However, the fan never does turn on during this process.

that's very strange, do you use the same ASCOM driver from us?
