ASI 120 MC -- Firmware upgraded

Hi,

I worry about my ASI 120 MC's firmware update.

(USB2)

Before, I saw in /var/log/kernel.log

Aug 21 14 outils-T61 kernel: usb 2-2: Product: ASI120MC

Aug 21 14 outils-T61 kernel: usb 2-2: Manufacturer: ZWOptical company

I catch the firmware here :

I see in /var/log/kernel.log :

usb 1-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0

usb 1-3: Product: QHY5-CMOS

usb 1-3: Manufacturer: QHY_CAMS

What a crazy migration ? From ASI to QHY5 !

And, I can't go back to the latest state.

Can you help me, please ?

It's impossible, we don't have QHY's firmware, did you connect another QHY's camera to your PC at that time? you can use command "lsusb" to check the VID and PID of usb devices

I agree with you : it's impossible.

But in facts, i have no QHY's CCD. I have just only an ASI 120 COLOR USB2.

After the upgraded described below, my ASI CCD have new configuration :

idVendor=16c0, idProduct=296d

And the lsusb told me it-s a QHY CCD.

Hi all,

We have a conjecture. If you used QHY device on Linux systems before. when the update, because we must put the device back to the original state at first. At this time, because we and QHY use the same USB chip, QHY may also identify to the original state of the equipment. Because their firmware loading method is loaded at working, So they will be faster than our download firmware, so it mistakenly loads the QHY firmware into the our device.

Don't worry。

Please provide the idVendor and idProduct after your error。 I will offer you a new pkg, then you can use this new pkg to update it.

It works. Now i have my así 120mc with the compatible firmware with 512 of USB packets size.

In case it's helpful, I just had to flash my 120MC to the "compatible" firmware to get it to work on both 64-bit Linux Mint 18 and on Raspbian 9.

Hi Chad,

I downloaded this attachment and used it to flash my old ASI120MM, and the command succeeded, but now the camera is not functioning at all.

Here is the command I ran (from the x64 directory):

./zwo_FWTool_USB2 -i ../firmware/ASI120MM-compatible.iic -t li2c

The command succeeded, but after this the camera no longer functions.

Here is the output of dmesg covering the time just before the firmware was updated to just after:

usb 1-2: new high-speed USB device number 13 using xhci_hcd

usb 1-2: config 1 interface 0 altsetting 0 endpoint 0x82 has invalid maxpacket 1024, setting to 512

usb 1-2: USB disconnect, device number 13

usb 1-2: new high-speed USB device number 14 using xhci_hcd

usb 1-2: device descriptor read/64, error -110

I unplugged the camera and then plugged it back in, but to no avail.

I then tried to update the firmware again, but I am afraid the damage has been done, because now zwo_FWTool_USB2 reports the following:

Error: No FX2LP device found

Is there any way to recover this camera?

Hi all,

If there is no problem with your camera, please do not use this upgrade package easily。

There are some things inside the tool that are encapsulated by others (not us) and they are not safe. Even if the update goes wrong, it may return to success. So please don't use this tool to upgrade unless you have to.

Please try another usb ports. If it failed, please change a USB cable. If it still failed, plug it into a windows PC. If it still failed, send a email to me, and I will help you check it by remote control. If all of them do not work, the camera is broken. You have to send it back.
