ASI 1600MC cool settings question

Hi,

I recently purchased the ASI 1600MC cool and have some questions about the settings of gain and offset.

I am trying to capture some faint DSO images like M31 and I live in a very light polluted area. I am having trouble pulling out the finer details in the Andromeda Galaxy and was wondering what settings I should be using for gain and offset. I usually use Sharpcap to capture images.

I'm looking for a good starting point for the settings. Also I just bought an Optolong L-pro filter to try to help with the light pollution but I don't know how this will affect what settings I should be using.

what you need is good environment instead of setting

M31 is a very bright target

you can start from "unity gain" setting under our ASCOM setting dialog

Well i can't change my environment without going to a dark site and I've seen others get good pictures in highly light polluted areas.

I will try the unity gain setting as a starting point. I'm assuming that 139 gain and an offset of 21 is what you mean.

I've tried several DSO's and I don't seem to be able to pull out any nebulae or dust in my images. The stars come out fine but everything else gets washed away in the sky glow. I had been using Sharpcap and the image stacking option, but it only stacked the images if the gain was set much higher.

Hoping the lower gain and the LPro filter will help.
