ASI 174MMC sometimes conect as USB3.0 and other as 2.0

the camera comes with USB 3.0 cable

My laptop is a MSI GT72VR with 16 Gb of RAM, a 250GB SSD and a 1TB Hard Drive. The graphics card is the GTX 1060Ti. It also has 6 USB 3.0 ports.

When I connect the camera, and the conection is 2.0 the speed is the same as on my old computer with windows XP, with the maximum resolution (without ROI) I only get 14 fps :-(.

Some days I get it on USB3.0 and in this case reaches 120-130 fps. Then the problem is not the computer nor the USB ports because some times it works and on the other hand when I copy large files using those USB3.0 port the speed is very big and arround 100MB / s.

The problem is not firecapture because when it is only working as usb 2.0, it does not matter if I use firecapture or sharpcap and when it works correctly, it does well in both software. There is only the possibility that the ASI driver do not work properly

So I know it works at that fps but the issue is that sometimes it connects like USB2.0 and others like USB3.0 and I can not control when it happens.

I used the last driver from the ASI page.

What can I do?

I think you made a mistake.

You can find that USB3.0 has more pins than USB2.0.

If you use a usb3.0 cable and plug it into a usb2.0 port. in this condition, only those USB2.0 pins are working, and other pins for USB3.0 are disconnect. So the device will be identified as a USB2.0 device。Using a USB2.0 cable and plug it into a USB3.0 port is the same.

So, if you want a high speed by USB3.0, you should use a USB3.0 cable and plug it into a USB3.0 port.

Thank you, for your information, but I think this is not te problem because the laptop only have usb 3.0 and the cable is the genuine usb 3.0 of ASI.

And using the same USB 3.0 port, some time is conected as 3.0 and other time as 2.0

All the port :-(

Te laptop have an other usb 3.0 but in thid case is a tipe C. I bought a cable in amazon. I will try with this new 3.0 cable and on tipe C port.

I will say if that fix the problem.

Have you ever tried to replace the USB3.0 cable?

1. Please change other USB3.0 devices to see if it can be correctly identified as USB3.0, if not, please upgrade the USB drive of the host.

2. Please change a USB cable. If you still cannot identify correctly, please contact us to repair.
