ZWO ASI USB Cables

Hello,

To shorten up the cable that comes with the ZWO camera (ASI 1600 cooled mono), I attempted to splice it at home and the cable is very well shielded inside. I am concerned that I may not be able to shield it back the way that it currently is.

The shielding is obviously important, so I am wondering if there is a source for these cables where I can get them in shorter lengths, perhaps ZWO sells them? And where can I get a replacement cable anyway??

the shielding is not so important if you use it at home

Thanks. A couple of questions:

is the cable available only at the length that is supplied with the camera or can it be ordered to shorter length (3'-0")?

I use the camera attached to my telescope on a tracking mount and I use them not at home, I use them outdoors. Would shielding be required then? Why is the cable shielded as heavily as it is?

How do I contact your company to order replacement cable? I didn't find any links on the website.

we provide USB2.0 short cables which come with cooled 1600 and it's fixed length

I think Shielding is not required for consumer environment

I do have the short cables than came with the camera, however, they are too short. The length that I need is 36" which I presume you don't have. I will contact you for the standard cable just to have one around and am going to experiment with the cables that I have bought online.
