Hi,

A great picture (and also the other two), you shot with the ASI071...

At which location have you took this photos?

Any dewing problems during the capturing?

I also use this camera and I am still experimenting with gain and gamma...

Which values do you use for your captures?

And do you have a recommendation for the colour space? (RGB24, RAW16, etc.)

Joachim - thanks for your note.

I am in Arizona in the US - the sky is usually clear and being in the desert dew is not usually a problem. I suggest a lower gain - I have been taking my latest pics with Gain=200 and have seen an improvement in overall noise. Pics are taken in RAW16.

Hi Roger,

thank you for your interesting reply...

Dew is a problem for me here in the middle of Germany - but I hope, I can eliminate it effectively by applying permanently the desiccation tube with two tablets; I hope, this works.

In my last photos, I used a gain value of 400; I knew, that this value would be a little bit to high especially when considering the loss of dynamic range with higher gain values. So, I think, that is the reason that I got results with stars with little colors...but on that night I had a fight with my PHD-Guiding (that I had never before), so I decided to take max 50 sec captures with this gain value - astrophotography can be somewhat frustrating :

Otherwise, it was absolutely astonishing for me, that I got nethertheless good results...

So, I agree with you, that this camera has a high potential.

I will post one of my results - M81/M82 - the best pic compared with my first one years before...
