ASI1600MC: attaining usb 3.0 speeds

I've only had the ASI1600 a few days. It's taken some nice images and I like the SharpCap software.

My problem is getting USB 3.0 speeds.

I have swapped cables, tried a powered hub and different power supplies for cooling. Still only USB2 speeds. My laptop ports are fine with other devices.

It finally started working (on an indoor bench) at near specifications when I powered up the 1600 in a different order. My full frame speed changed from 2.1fps to 14.7fps.

At this point, I'm not sure if it was a fluke or what. I'll be out with the scope tonight. Anyone have any tips or insights?

usually such problem caused by bad connection of usb3.0 host port

I had such a problem.

The reason is a tight USB3 socket on my laptop.

If I insert the cable slowly, it is always a USB2 connection.

If I insert the cable quickly, it's more often USB2 than USB3.

If I first connect the cable to the laptop, and then connect the cable to the ZWO ASIxxx - it's always USB3.
