Doing time lapse of night sky with a ZWO ASI 120MC?

I was curious if any of you've any starter settings to work with for doing a time lapse of the night sky using Sharpcap or some other software.

I've been playing around with the exposure an gain but I can't see stars with the fisheye lens unless I bring up the exposure and gain to the point that hot pixels start showing up by a lot then I can't see stars with the camera.

I know every ones sky is different then others when it comes to light pollution but I was trying to find out if there are other settings I should be using with exposure and then gain.

you can use the dark subtract to remove these hot pixels

That's I thought but the problem is I need at least 15 seconds or higher to collect enough light that I can see stars, and then that's where hot pixels come in and it's kinda hard to tell if stars are in the frame with all the pixels filling the image up.

this is why you need to subtract the dark frame

then all hot pixels are gone after you do it
