Thank you for the reply Sam.
I guess medium format camera would be appreciated by quite a number of customers. I assume this due to the fact that more and more telescopes out there are able to evenly illuminate such a large chip.
I'm not in this business, so excuse me to ask a laymen's question: I was wondering if you wouldn't see enough potential customers for such a product. The full format camera price tag has reached a level that will of course limit the number of potential customers in the amateur astronomer community. The price for a middle format camera will make this a even bigger challenge but you say that the availability of sensors is the limiting factor here?
Like in every business I would assume that Sony as well as other sensor manufacturers preferably supply their products to customers ordering larger quantities. However if their production output isn't too low I would assume that they finally sell to customers with lower quantities too. Since these sensors are on the market now for some time I would have the hope that they have their process up an running to get a good output from their production.
Can you guess roughly - probably from your experience with the full format sensors - how the timeline for medium format could look like?
Best regards
Christof
