ASCOM Problem

Hi,

I have been having problems with ASCOM drivers on my PC. I installed ASCOM, ZWO ASCOM Drivers and ZWO drivers. But I'm getting the following error no matter what I try.

Hi，

Please check if there is a ASCOM.ASICamera2.dll file under this path ：C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ASCOM\Camera\ZWO。

If not, make sure the installation is correct and complete 。

That's where the prroblem is Chad,

The files do exist. The first message says they are incompatible though...

maybe just reinstall the ASCOM driver?

I uninstalled ASCOM platform, ASCOM drivers, ZWO drivers, removed the cameras from devices deleting the drivers with it then reinstalled all of them and it's still the same.

Hi,

Please try this.

Start -> all softwares -> ASCOM Platform 6 -> Tools -> ASCOM Diagnostics.

In the ASCOM Diagnostics, you can get the ASCOM Version, like mine:

ASCOM Platform 6.1 SP1 - 6.1.12627

Then you can click the "ChooseDevice". It has 2 options, the first is for X64, the second is for x86. You can try both.

You will get a "Device Connection Tester" Dialog, Please select the device type as camera, then click the Choose button, Select the ASI Camera. This will help you check whether ASCOM drives and ZWO drivers are properly installed.

If you still get the error info, Please click the "Run Diagnostics" button in ASCOM Diagnostics dialog.

Then send the log to us.

Hi everyone,

I finally found the solution and notified the ZWO crew about it.

The problem was about the faulty registry records on Windows. The DLL paths should be starting with "C:/Program Files..." but in my case it was like "file:///C:/Program Files..." or "file://C:/Program Files..." , so after a bulk delete of the "file:///" string from the registry entries, everything is now working fine.

In case someone else has this problem, this is the way to deal with it.

Hello, I have exactly the same problem. The replacement of "file:\\\\" is not working for me. I keep getting the error message: "No ASI camera detected." In the device manager I have an "Unknown device". Reinstalling the driver is not working. Not even by changing the administrative rights.

Can you help?

Did you try my solution? I solved it by editing the faulty Windows registry entries. You can see details in the first page.

HI Hugo,

You said in the device manager, you got an Unknown device?

If the device is error in device manager, it should not a ASCOM Problem. Maybe a hardware problem.

Please upload a screen shoot, maybe I can find out what happened.

Except that you did not specify which registry key to look for...
