ASI 120MC-S and Win XP

I have an ASI120MC-S camera and computer running Win XP service pack 3 with USB3.0 hub. When I plug the camera in it is recognised and drivers are installed. I am using driver 3.0.0.1. In Control Panel the camera shows as an imaging device and it indicates it's working properly. In Sharpcap 2.8 the camera shows up on the list of cameras but it does not default to it. When I click on the camera I get a message "Camera could not be started Error 'Error Camera Removed' from call to ASI Open Camera (camerid=0)". If I try to access the camera in guiding software such as PHD I get a similar failed to open camera message. The camera works fine on my other Win8.1 computer.

Any assistance much appreciated.

sharpcap2.8 is too old

you need to upgrade to 3.0

Sharpcap 3.0 doesn't run on Win XP. The camera works fine with Sharpcap 2.8 or 2.9 on Win 8.1 and the fact that PHD can't open the camera suggests it's nothing to do with Sharpcap.

got it, then you can copy the asicamera2.dll from sharpcap3.0 to replace the old one under Sharpcap2.8

you can do it with PHD2 too

Got it working with the ASCOM driver. Presumably something to do with the native driver and XP.
