Additional model holder ring

A useful addition would be a ring holder for uncooled cameras, eg asi120mc s, along the lines of sku ZWO-RINGD78. Potentially this might be the same item but with a reducer insert to match the smaller diameter cameras (and any others that may be produced in future). Some accommodation for side mounted cable connectors may be needed but this should not be impossible.

User comments amd imaging indicate that the distinction between planetary and dso cameras is very flexible and the ZWO cameras do both successfully.

The main use of a holder ring is for long exposure wide field photography using a photographic lens. This combination is hard to use with a ball head as the weight leads to slip and accurate adjustment is hard. Ideally the holder should have a foot that can be fixed by screw to an equatorial mount plate ie Vixen or Losmandy style plate, or even to the Skywatcher finderscope dovetail.

The provided tripod mounting works well for short exposures using a pan and tilt head. But for use on a tracking mount the camera needs a tripod mounting in its side. This configuration is like using a telescope with the camera, but instead of the telescope, there is a photo lens. Unlike the telescope which uses rings or a foot to secure to the mount, there is no way to fasten a photo lens to an EQ mount. Hence the request for a ring. This is ideal as it would allow rotation of the camera to suit the required orientation of the filed of view. Presumambly this is what is intended for the ring that ZWO currently offers. Unfortunately it's too big for the asi 120 at 60mm diameter.
