I just purchased the ZWO 294 Pro Color a few weeks ago and finally got a chance to get things set up. I am very excited and have gotten over some small hurdles but still seem to have a very long way to go.
When I finally tried to capture some images, I couldn’t get anything of significance. Through my 10" Meade SCT with a 6.3 focal reducer, the best thing I got was an image of my bahtinov mask. (not star for focus…just looked like I took a picture of the mask itself.) I am guessing that part of the problem is my backspacing. I ordered a Meade T-adapter, but that seems to put me past the recommended 55mm backspacing from the start. (Can someone help me with a configuration here? (I also have an Astronomik IR-Block filter, but will likely need an adapter to tie it in as well. It connects fine to the focal reducer, but I can't get back to the camera. I got some large white circles (3 in single exposure) through my Orion ST-80.
Also, I am trying to work from a Mac platform, but with great difficulty. I have not purchased the Nebulosity 4 license yet. I can open in demo mode. I can navigate around the program, but when I try to connect to ZWO ASI camera in the drop down manu, the program crashes every time. (If I try other options, it just says “Failure to connect to X camera.”
I would be very open to recommendations on software as I get started. At this point, the only thing I could seem to get to run was Astroimager.
Really hoping I can get this thing to fly.
