I used ASICAP for the first time and like it's simplicity. A few functions that were missing or didn't work (or couldn't figure out).

1. As mentioned it could use a crosshair function.

2. Couldn't figure out how to capture sequential .FIT images. I set the limit to 10 frames and nothing happened when I clicked the Camera Icon other than I manually captured one frame.

3. .FIT files were not useable in AstroToaster which uses DSS as an engine. But AstroToaster was able to work with files captured as .PNG when the program was set not to capture in Raw format.

4. I'm not sure but there doesn't appear to be a way to save a cameras profile.

Don

Hi Don

thanks for using ASICAP and feedback

this is our first release of the software, so it's not perfect

and we didn't add all functions to this software because we wish to keep its simplicity

but welcome to submit your feature request, we will discuss and may add it to our next version

ASICAP is a video capture software and mainly for planetary imaging

we will release more software for other usages

such like DSO imaging and Live stacking

1. As mentioned it could use a crosshair function.

we will add it to our next version

2. Couldn't figure out how to capture sequential .FIT images. I set the limit to 10 frames and nothing happened when I clicked the Camera Icon other than I manually captured one frame.

you are correct the limitation is only for video capturing, the snapbutton is only used for snapshot one frame

I think we will add one autorun button to do such job

3. .FIT files were not useable in AstroToaster which uses DSS as an engine. But AstroToaster was able to work with files captured as .PNG when the program was set not to capture in Raw format.

we will check this issue

4. I'm not sure but there doesn't appear to be a way to save a cameras profile.

we will consider where to add it

Hi Sam

I completely agree with Don and have noticed the same when testing the latest software version 1.01 with using darks only due to weather issues here. I think that ASICAP would make a terrific DSO all in one program for near real-time (EAA) if these features mentioned were added.

1. adding a crosshair function for accurate mount alignment

2. Live on the fly auto-stacking using both average and median algorithms

3. Capture and save fits images as a sequence

4. Full live histogram adjustments for preview display

5. Full live color auto-balancing for preview display

6. On the fly dark and flat subtraction incorporated into live auto-stacking.

I know Sam that this is a lot to incorporate into a young program, however, if it can be done I know that ASICAP will be a huge benefit for many that use ASI cameras for EAA.

Cheers,

Chris A

Hi Astrogate,

Thanks for your suggestions. We're going to improve the ASICAP.We will consider the features you mentioned and add them to ASICAP.Thank you.

Hi Donboy,

We had sent private message to you 3 days ago about the problem " .FIT files were not useable in AstroToaster which uses DSS as an engine. But AstroToaster was able to work with files captured as .PNG when the program was set not to capture in Raw format.",Could you send some FIT files to us so that we can examine the problem. My e-mail is ml.song@zwoptical.com. Thank you.
