I have a few spots on my ASI120MM-S sensor that cannot be removed with my handheld air bulb. The ZWO online cleaning details say to use ethanol to clean, but ethanol is not commonly available at retail stores here in the US. I have cleaned filters before with isopropyl alcohol (IPA), which is very available. My questions are:
Is ethanol truly required, or can isopropyl alcohol (IPA) be used? In either case, what % concentration is required?
Can someone confirm if other approaches really have worked (Baader Wonderfluid, DSLR Sensor Cleaning Kits, etc.) and give the details of the approach?
Does the sensor itself actually have a rectangular glass window placed directly on top of the sensor? If so, this would definitely make me feel better about cleaning it.
Separately, the rubber o-ring that surrounds the sensor has come unglued from the board. I am able to keep it in place with just the pressure from the top half of the camera housing. If I want to re-glue it, what glue/method should I use?
For reference, my ASI120MM-S is working great, both for imaging and auto-guiding! You can see my photos on my AstroBin page - link is on my ASI profile page.
Thanks and clear skies!
