Happy to get my new ASI1600MM pro and efw 8 position FW. I've imaged with DSLR for a few years but complete newbie on interconnecting this camera. I need a sanity check on if I'm doing this correctly
I unscrewed the extender in front of the camera and directly screwed the ASI1600 to the filter wheel. Images I've seem to show a flush connection rather than the extender between them.
I'll first try this with my celeston C8 .
Threaded on the front of the filter wheel is what looks to be an extender? It is threaded and has two holes on the barrel for the thumbscrews. Is that used only if you wish to connect the camera to the EFW with a nose piece (as shown in the EFW quick guide)?
Do I unscrew the above extender from of the EFW and screw in the nose piece directly to the EFW, which of course would fit in the back of the 1 1/2" sct's eyepiece holder? That seems straight forward but the camera/filter wheel is a lot of weight to dangle with just two eyepiece thumb screws in the sct's eyepiece holder.
Plus I could use some assistance in identifying the other items besides the 21mm extender, 16.5 extender and nose piece.
-Plastic spacer. Is this a shim and does anyone know the size/thickness and where it's typically used in the optical train?
-Thin threaded spacer? Threads are on the outside. Is this the M42 to M48 adapter?
- Metal spacer/connector with 4 holes. Perhaps to mount mount camera to 3rd party filter wheel that requires it to be screwed to it?
- Metal spacer/adapter? It is threaded on the inside. The disk has two holes. Protruding from the disk on both sides are threads as well. Is this an M42 to M42 adapter?
Sorry for all the questions.
