SGP will not download from ASI1600MMC at setting zero gain

Hi,

Till last year, I could take the many sequence images by ASI 1600 with SGP pro v2.6.0.23. with no problem.

Although this year, any frames can't be downloaded in the same settings.

I always uses supplied ASCOM(1) default highest dynamic range settings, zero gain 10 offset.

curiously, focus and frame command in SGP will work. despite, every sequence program will not work.

I am in confusion!!

So, I tried setting gain 1. I thought it will force the camera gain 1 , and maybe not need to fetching the gain list for SGP.

Indeed, SGP run this sequence images successfully.

although, I hate gain 1. It will reduce the dynamic range. ASI1600 employ 12bit ADC. I hope I could squeeze every bit of pixel count.

What was done in the latest ASCOM driver? I did not changed all settings except ASI ASCOM driver this year.

or SGP bug program?

Hi Hiromu,

I tried to repeat it, but looks like it works well with SGP V3.0.1.0.

Maybe you can try to update the SGP and test it. If it doesn't solve it, please send a email to me: chad.cao(at)zwoptical.com.

I updated SGP V3.0.1.0, when this trouble had appeared on my system. Although in vain again.

My each computer is running Windows 10 pro and ASCOM 6.3 with no problem.

I use HP Elitebook 8570w,8570p and 8560p. they are equipped with USB3.0 port and RS232C. all have quad i7, 32 or 16G ram and 980G SSD.

I had been tryout to change each computer, but ASI 1600 would not download as it should. only focus and frame will work.

Last night my windows 10 had updated to v1803.

I will try one more, and if it still in same, I will mail to you, thank you.

I just received my camera and had the same problem. I solved it by plugging the USB cable into the computer and camera before powering them on.

Last night, I could take sequence files with zero gain successfully !!

I applied computer latest program update in these......, other than this, nothing was changed.

Windows 10 pro ver.1803

SGP ver.3.0.2.82

ASICamera ASCOM Setup V1.0.3.18

ZWO ASI Cameras driver Setup V3.0.0.4

SGP did work both with native driver and ASCOM drivers.

SGP could fetch gain list with ZWO native driver. but only for gain list and off set, not for USB traffics, so far. or I may miss out the list in somewhere.

possibly, SGP is still running in beta program.

SGP could work with latest ZWO ASCOM driver. In advanced tab, I could control all list of gain, offset and USB traffic. although, I always set default.

One concern is the first download time of the sequence. I took about 90 sec to complete the first shot. I remember it was far more fast last year.

or that was my intriguing? anyway I'm not certain. The first download time is thrilling for me.

I also suffered genuine USB cable issue last year. New genuine Grey color cable had problem not to connecting electrically.

Changing to old genuine black cable solved it. I like genuine cable which is still soft in cold temperature, although, some may have the problem.

Common USB3 cable in the market will work fine, but most of the cable will change hard in cold night. I hope little bit longer on genuine cable and stable for electric contact in the cable.

That's good news! Does the download from USB2.0 mode? it's a long time for downloading. However, the camera works well now.

We think keep update software and drivers, the issue will gone in further.

I use USB3.0 on ASI1600. Yes It's long time to download despite USB3.0. So, I also expect updating for better recording.

Last night, I tried planet AVI recording with ASI290MC and Firecapture. Although, suffered from Asian dust, Sky was dark and shifting yellow, I could managed to high speed recording. I felt ASI290 with USB3.0 have that advantage for sure, comparing ASI120.

On still photo, Maybe USB2.0 is enough, I think. I used to use SBIG ST-8XE with USB1.0 in short time. It's far better on ASI1600. Noise and sensitivity is another league. although, downloading time was not so slow, I may remember.

I think ASI1600 is wonderful camera those for amateurs.
