Nikon to ZWO Adapter with aperture setting mechanism

Hi, modern nikon Lenses do not have an aperture ring, yet the aperture is selected by camera mechanically.

This means using a new nikon dg lens with a zwo nikon adapter will set the aperture to the lowest, which is mostly unusuable dark f or so..

Currently, the only solution for this is to use a very expensive nikon-canon adapter from novoflex where one can mechanically select the aperture of the lens with a switch and then use behind this adapter the ZWO canon to ASI adapter.....

Using two adapters just to fit a modern nikon lens on the zwo camera is a bit cumbersome, so please include a mechanics that allows to select the aperture in nikon lenses.

Hi there, There is some way to keep the aperture open to max. Adjustable is hard to do that, but we will consider about it. Thank your for your suggestion.

I do not think a rubber band is a useful solution. How should I put a rubber band to an adapter that has to fit with almost zero tolerance....

Therefore, the solution I chose was to use this canon to T2 adapter:

And then this novoflex Nikon to Canon EOR adapter with aperture control.

This thing is expensive, but it has an apperture know where one can easily adjust the apperture setting

The question is whether novoflex has patents on this...

It is, at any rate, too expensive.. 225 dollars for such a single nikon to canon adapter with aperture control....

We didn't add aperture control, it's not a commen demand.

As a very old nikonist (nobody's perfect), I confirm that it is possible to tweak G-style lenses to force permanent full aperture.
Warning this has to be done with extreme care !!!
For that, and depending of the mechanical arrangement which varies from one optic to the other , you may either
a) use a small rubber band to keep the aperture control lever in the full-open position or
b) use a soft wedge to block the lever (the wedge prevent the lever to come back to full-closed position.
C) last but not least, dental floss works very well for that purpose, I have just tried it on my 70 200 lately. A small floss loop holds the lever in position, tension being provided by the lever spring.

This of course should be done with extreme care, strictly avoiding material subjected to "crumbling", to prevent particles to fall into the optical path of the lens.
I have thus succeeded in this manoeuvre on both 50mm and 500mm, with a piece of foam-made noiseblocking ear-plug.
My recommendation is to remove in any case the wedge (in whatever form) as soon as you stop astro use !!!

You may practise on any Nikon (or compatible) lens, G style or not, as soon as the aperture control lever is there.

The adapter is completely useless. Modern Nikon lenses focus cannot be set manually and aperture is stepped down all the way, this makes the adapter completely useless. I'm returning mine to the vendor. A complete waste. Very disappointing for a company that normally has quality equipment.
