Red Channel White Balance

In SC there isn't enough red channel gain to get a proper white balance when using a 1600, 071, or 294 with an Idas LPS P2 and worse with an Idas LPS D1. I have brought this up in the past and many of us still cannot achieve a white balance when using SC to preview and image.

The blue channel which is generally the weaker channel has plenty of head room and never seems to run out of adjustment. The red channel in these sensors is stronger than the blue channel but the red channel adjustment has to be set to maximum of 99 and still is no where near enough to get a white balance.

I've been told by Robin to refer this to ZWO.

So you want us to extend the range of Red and Blue channel? I will ask our engineer if we can do that or not.

I'm wondering where this stands. The Red channel still doesn't have enough gain to AWB flats or non stacked images.

We discussed about it, we suggest to use default settings

R=50

B=50

to capture frames.

After that, in post processing, adjust color balance.

That would be better.
