ASI071MC Pro icing up

Hi,

I have an ASI071MC Pro that has had problems with internal icing up on the chip for some time. It was minor so I wasn't too concerned, however it has become very significant recently and rendered the camera unusable.

I took the camera apart and took the 4 dessicant tablets out and per the instructions in Support placed them in a microwave for 2 minutes. I then immediately put the camera back together and waited 48 hours before trying it out. I still get internal condensation, though not as bad as before microwaving.

I presume my tablets needed more drying out?

Is there a colour cart of some sort that shows when the tablets are dried out ? If so could it be uploaded somewhere so I can see it? What colour should they be when dried out?

Hi Gary,

Sorry for the issue.

We also hope to have such a color change of desiccant. However, it does not have.

The color change of desiccant in our condition is not obvious, the human eye can not see the difference.

So the only way to solve this problem is to repair it. We will rebake the whole camera, seal it, and check the air tightness. Most fo time, it will works.

Hi Chad,

I think I have fixed it.

I opened the camera, and put it in a plastic container with a pile of powdered dessicant - left it for a day to dry out, then baked the tablets in a microwave for 5 minutes. Put everything back together, left it overnight and have just tested it. Cooled it to -15C and now have no ice or condensation inside the camera. So I think all is well.

I will contact you again if the issue happens again.
