[ASI 1600 MM cool Pro] No image download

I'm new in this forum =)

So, a few weeks ago I bought a new ASI 1600 Mono Pro and I have some problems to download the image from the camera to my notebook. So first I should explain my telescope set-up.

I have a remote controlled telescope based on Raspberry Pi. On the RasPi runs a virtual USB Server from https://www.virtualhere.com/https://www.virtualhere.com/ and on a Win10 notebook runs the client which emulates the USB ports on my notebook. I used this set-up before with my DSLR and it runs perfect.

If I connect the ASI-1600 camera directly to my notebook it works fine. With your software ASICAP or third party software e.g. APT the images would be downloaded to the appropriate folder. But, if I am using my favourite set-up with the RasPi, the images sometimes wouldn't be downloaded to the image folder.

I have already turned the USB traffic speed to the minimum value of 40. It seems for me, that there are maybe some "timeouts" in the software or driver or camera firmeware caused by the "time-lag" between my notebook <---> RasPi <---> ASI-1600? Because I can controle e.g. the temperature or the filterwheel to any time. Including while the image downloading stopps or hangs.

If you have any ideas how I can fix my problems, I would be very greatful.

I have the same issue with a new NanoPC T4 running INDI and EKOS.

My ASI1600MM Pro works great on my Stellarmate (Raspberry Pi) using the USB2 port, and a USB speed of 40.

But on the new NanoPC T4, which has a USB3 port, I am unable to get the ASI1600Mm to work properly.

If I connect the USB3 cable that came with the camera, to the USB port on the NanoPC, the camera fails after two image downloads.

If I attach it a USB port, I can download 10 images before the camera hangs.

I use INDI / EKOS to operate the camera, and get the error: "ASIGetExpStatus failed"

I have set the USB speed to 40, and different cables and ports with no change. I can only get 10 images max, and then have to turn off everything and reboot. EVerything esle on the NanoPC works great, and all aspects of KSTARS and EKOS works well with my Lubuntu OS. If I switch over to another CCD camera, it works fine. Only the ASI1600Mm fails.

Hello Peter,

I also checked several USB cables.. And while I checked in my Win10 taskbar the WLAN traffic, I believe my PC received most of the image data.. but at the end happens something.

The APT Tool communicates with the ASI over ASCOM and maybe there is an issue in the driver for the ASI?!

I also asked the APT crew to check their software, but if you have the same probs with EKOS and INDI, it looks like that it isn‘t only a problem of our third party software...

Hope we can fix that quickly.

I do not think you have the same problem.

For Thorsten, Can you try to save the picture to the raspberry pi? Or not save, just preview, does it work normal? Or use a small resolution to make a try. I doubt it maybe the problem of VirtualHere. Given that it is a networking device, it will be much worse than USB in terms of data transmission speed and loss problems.

For Peter, in another post, I answered you. Thorsten said his camera can work normally when connect the camera directly to the Notebook, but your camera not, so I'm more inclined to think it could be a hardware problem. please make more test.
