ASI294MC Pro cooling performance and also the offset value

I've had my ASI294MC Pro for since last December and have a question about cooling. I am using a 5 amp power brick to power the cooler and with an ambient temperature of 16.2c (measured with a TemperHum USB unit in one of the camera's USB2 ports). The camera will not cool to -20c, it stops at around -17 to -18 and fluctuates using 100% power.

I thought the expected delta was 40c so at ambient +16c the camera should be capable of cooling to -26c. I want to image at -20c and be able to generate darks etc at -20c in the daytime. Is this unreasonable to expect of this camera? Also ASICAP 1.4.1 seems better at controlling the cooler than the ASCOM driver (I use APT to capture deep sky subs).

A second point. The ASCOM driver defaults to an Offset of 30 and ASICAP to 8. Which is correct?

ASICAP is for planetary imaging video capture software

so please use our ASCOM driver for DSO imaging

the delta T of cooling was 35c instead of 40c for 294

Thanks for the reply Sam. I am sure the product webpage said -40c when I looked before, now it clearly says -35C :

I use ASCOM driver and APT hence my question why the differnet Offset value in ASICAP and the ASCOM Driver for unity gain. I set the ASCOM driver to an Offset of 8 and all is fine so no worries.

We fixed the offset value in ASCOM to let the user use it more easily

but under ASICAP you can control all parameters
