Thanks Sean. It looks like I would theoretically pick up some transmission in the blue.
Regarding the firmware question, I was really just wondering if there is anything in the firmware that assumes that the plate with that transmission is in place. In other words, lets say removing the coverplate allowed for light at 350 through and lets say the sensor could actually pick that up. Does the firmware make some assumption about the bandpass at 350 being 0 when in my made up example it would be higher than that?
And - yes - I'm considering having a firm remove the sensor coverplate for me, understanding that it would void the warranty, might open the camera up to damage, etc. I may not do it, but I'm not sure yet. Using any sensor with a coverplate on a long focal ratio (f/75) spectrohelioscope (sub-angstrom bandpass at pretty much any wavelength) is essentially an exercise in testing the coverplate as a flat, because of the resulting newton's rings. This isn't a fault of ZWO or Sony or anything like that - it's a result of the physics involved with having a coverplate on the sensor and using highly monochromatic, essentially-parallel light to do imaging (in my opinion). So I hope no one takes this as a knock on what ZWO is enabling us to do!
Best,
Matt
