Square stars

Hi! I have problem with autoguiding. I get squared stars. Stars aren't elongated but they are not circular either. I tried with different settings and RA/DEC max 500ms works best to get as small and not elongated stars, but they are like squares. Aggressiveness is: RA 70, DEC 50

I use finderguider 50/180 and 120mm mini for guiding. My imaging scope is 200/800, mount HEQ5 pro belt modded. I get RMS 1,5"

Hi Sam.

I beg to disagree. 50mm finderguider is very capable of guiding to at least 1000mm. I've done that and I believe many other did the same. Maybe there is some settings in guiding window that could improve things, or seeing is too bad or just my mount isn't up to it. I'm not saying it's bad guiding, but there is room for improvement. At least to 1"rms. Is there plan to include additional settings for guiding window?

For wide field is ok. So you don't think asiair is meant for hi-res imaging above 1000 mm?

not asiair but your guide scope

I think you should use OAG for high res guiding

Show as an example and what does your guiding look like.

I too have guided with 50mm finder scope and imaging scope up to 1300mm.
