Connect cameras via USB extender over Ethernet

Hello. Has anyone had success connecting the cameras this way?

These devices do not need a network, they just connect the two extender boxes together.

I have been looking at either the ICRON Ranger 2304 or a similar one by Blackbox.

My cameras are the asi185mc for guiding (and planetary), and the asi1600mc-cooled for imaging.

I will also be connecting an Optec TCF-Si focuser.

The distance for my buried Cat 5 (shielded twisted pair) cable is over 350".

The better extenders recommend no more than 330', for UTP cable.

I will be using an iMac, in my office to control all the devices (the scope uses Ethernet).

I prefer to not use an at the scope computer.

Any advice?

The USB extender will help you to extend your WIFI signal which will carry the signal to a long distance. If you want to Setup Netgear Router Extender then you can check it and get help from there. An extender is basically used in the home or even in the business area.

Fivel - I have used a USB extender with success for many years to connect to my imaging rig _40m away from my computer. I was using the Icron 2204 with camera, AutoGuider, focuser and mount connected. However, several years ago updates the the Mac OS caused this to stop working. Still works on Windows but not Mac. Since then I have used the SIIG 4 port USB extender and that will work with both windows and Mac.

Very recently I upgraded my camera to the ASI6200mm which is connected via USB3 and has high data transfer demands. I thought that SIIG extender might no work since it is intended for USB2 but in a quick bench test with the ASI6200mm I was able to take images and down load to my Mac via the extender.

The ethernet cable from imaging rig to computer is Cat6.
