Hi Sam,
Hi Sean,
I go on with my endless an desperate quest of the perfect medium-sized monochome
sensor...
As waiting one from Sony is a useless dream, I was wondering if a possible
solution would not be a custom modified existing sensor ?
I'm not thinking of a hard debayered color sensor but an improved version of
an existing monochrome sensor.
For me the best target is the PANASONIC MN34230PL used in several cameras.
Nearly perfect but I personnaly don't want to buy it because of it's limited
QE. Only 60% pic in visible light, when last Sony sensors are equal or more than
80% pic in visible light !
MN34230PL is not a recent sensor so I hope that an optimized version could
greatly increase QE to an acceptable value. Of course the most important is to
increase QE of visible light and why not in Ir if possible. And do not
modify read noise and pixel size !
Of course the price of upgraded sensor will be greatly higher, I know.
But it's worth even at 2x the actual price !
Please could you ask to PANASONIC if such an operation is possible ? :?:
