ASI120MM-s 16bit conflect with ASI1600mm-cool

Hi Sam,

I have a problem with my new ASI120MM and my ASI1600mm-cool.

I use the 120MM for guiding and the 1600MM for imaging. Both camera connect without any problems and the 120MM is guiding with no problems.

When I take an image with the 1600MM the guiding stops until the 1600MM image has completed, then the guiding continues.

Both Camera are set to 16bit and it appears this is where the issue is. If I set the 120MM to 8bit and the 1600MM is 16bit then I don't have any issues. Everything appears to works fine.

Could this be an issue with the ZWO Drivers.

Hi Robin，

Please try to reduce the USB bandwidth of 1600. I think it should be a USB bandwidth problem.

Hi Chad,

I finally had a chance to do a very extensive tests and using your suggestion reducing the USB bandwidth of 1600. This made no difference and the issue still remains I tried both camera's using different bandwidths, but the issue still remains.

As I mentioned in the earlier post if both camera's are set to 16bit then the we have the problem, if either one of the cameras is set to 8bit then there is no problem. I also used the Ascom driver on the 120mm (guider) and also connected each camera with its own USB cable in different ports same problem.

Hi Robbin,

Can you confirm the following problems?

1, Is the 120 connect to the USB2.0 port of 1600? or direct to the PC?

2, For the 1600, are you use the USB3.0 port and cable?

3, Which driver and application do you use? native driver or ASCOM driver?

Maybe I can try to repeat it on my side.

This is my standard configuration:

From the USB2 port on my computer, I have a 5m active cable that connects to a 4 port USB2 Powered Hub.

The 1600mm-c camera is connected into the hub. I have the 120mm-s connected into the 1600mm-c USB port.

I also have the ZWO filter wheel connected to the 1600mm-c camera. The 120mm-s is connected to the ST4 port on the mount.

The programs I am using are SGPro, APT and PHD2, Latest versions on all software packages..

In the test I also tried the following.

From my computer I ran a 5m active cable to the 1600mm-c camera, and from another port ran a separate 5m active cable to the 120mm-s camera. the filter wheel was connected to the 1600mm-c. The computer only has USB2 Ports.

This is not conclusive, as I did not do a recheck. I notice the 1200mm-s could be binning in 8bit mode. When I did a refocus on the scope I noticed the star field got closer and the stars become a bit pix-elated. PHD2 was set to Bin 1.

Hi Robin,

Try this, Use a USB2.0 cable to connect your 1600 and the PC directly. Then connect the 120S to the 1600. Test them with sharpcap. You can run it twice with different camera.

If it does not work, please try to turn down the USB traffic. Other settings, like exposure time and resolution, use the same value like you setted in the past.

If it could works normally, use the same settings, add the HUB hub, check if it works normally.
