Hello everybody,
I got the ASIair, the ASI 120MM guiding camera and the Mini Guide Scope 30/120 (f/4) recently, and mad myself familiar with it.
Now I have two questions. The first one is about autoguiding. I can't get Asiair to calibrate using the mini guide scope. It seems the focal length of 120 mm is too short, because I get the "the start didn't move enough" message all the time. Off-axis guiding from my main scope (MAK 127) works very well though. What's the trick with the mini guide scope, because everybody else seem to use it successfully?
The second question is about platesolving. I tried to do it with the MAK at 1500 mm focal length and reduced to 1000 mm focal length with no success. Any value above 800 mm will result in the message that the FOV is too small and platesolving might fail. Does this mean it could work or is it generally not possible with Asiair? If so, will it be made possible in the future? Btw. platesolving through the mini guide scope works like a charm.
Thanks for your help!
Cheers
Thomas
