ASI120MM mini and PhD2 = no 16 bit

Hello Chad and crew,

I've read similar reports regarding this apparent incompatibility that appears to be still unresolved, so thought it wise to add my experience.

I purchased my ASI120MM mini (mono) back in August 2018. It will connect to and display images in SharpCap without problem, both 8-bit and 16-bit, using both ZWO native driver and ASCOM driver.

Yet in PhD2, 8-bit works ok via both drivers, but 16-bit does not work using either driver.

Confirmed in both the latest PhD2 V2.6.6 and the previous developer release.

PhD2 return a "Lost connection to camera" error when looping images. It connects to the camera in the equipment manager dialogue ok.

My equipment is ASI120mm->ASI1600MM hub -> USB3 hub-> USB2 input to PC.

If I remember correctly I had the same problem using USB3 to a different PC.

I am not sure what firmware is in the camera.

I'm happy for you to remote in to my computer (Windows 7).

The camera is works well under 8bit, but not working at all under 16bit in PHD2.

You want to know why it not working at 16bit in PHD, right?

Yes, the camera is working well using 8-bit in PhD2 (ASI driver and ZWO driver) on two separate PCs. The camera does not work in 16-bit mode on both those PCs.

The camera works well in both 8 and 16 bit mode when using FireCapture and SharpCap, so it would appear that the problem is not USB2 or USB3 or powered hubs, etc.

I now have this camera working on a 3rd (new) PC build in both 8-bit and 16-bit mode using PhD.

I hear that there is a firmware upgrade for this camera, and that it will fix the problem. Do you have a link to an updated firmware for this camera Chad?

Quite a few people are reporting this same problem with the USB2 version of this camera and PhD2.

Hi Sir,

This problem is not caused by us, it is selected by PHD2. We can support the 16bit, but the PHD2 do not use it, it only use the 8bit.
